We will have 7 competitions at Lone Star Championships:
Newcomer Jack and Jill
Intermediate Jack and Jill
Advanced Jack and Jill
Strictly Blues
Strictly Lindy
Strictly Fast Lindy
Solo Charleston
Jack and Jills
Everything is bigger in Texas - including our Jack and Jill contest. We have 3 levels:
Newcomer, Intermediate, and Advanced. That way everyone gets a chance to dance with /
compete against similar type competitors!
Jack and Jills are extremely fun contests where you do not need a partner. You enter
as an individual and are judged as an individual for prelims. You will be rotated and dance
with multiple people to multiple songs. It's a great way to meet new people and have fun
competing. If you make the finals, you will be paired up with one of the other finalists and
be judged as a couple. If you have never competed before, our Newcomer division is for you!
Strictlys
Strictlys are social competitions where you do know your partner, but won't know what music
will be played. Ask a friend to compete in Blues, Lindy, or Fast Lindy!
Solo Charleston
Don't wanna do the partnered thing all night? Wanna rock it out with some awesome Charleston?
Well, this contest is for you!
Levels
The Jack and Jill contest is split into 3 divisions: Newcomer, Intermediate, and Advanced.
The Newcomer division is for dancers who have never competed in a Jack and Jill competition
or potentially have danced in 1 or 2 Jack and Jills but have never made finals.
The Intermediate division is for dancers who have competed in at least a few Jack and Jills and/or
other types of competitions - potentially even at national competitions. Note that if you have won
a novice competition you must dance in this division.
The Advanced division is for dancers who have competed at many national events - you know who
you are.
Strictlys and the Solo Charleston are all levels!
Tip: It is common to want to place yourself in as high a level as possible. Note
that the level here refers to your competition experience, not the length of time you've been
dancing - as competition experience is a different type of experience.
If you have questions about where to place yourself, contact us and we can help!
