About Lone Star and it's organizers

Tena Morales and Scott Angelius have been actively growing the Texas scenes for over 10 years each - Tena in Houston and Scott in Austin. They founded Lone Star Championships in 2007.

From the organizers:
We created Lone Star Championships to be a different kind of weekend. We wanted amazing workshops and contests, but one of the primary goals, if not the primary goal, was for Lone Star to be a party weekend. For the nights to be filled with fun, amazing music and dancing, and inspiring contests and performances.

We take this to heart. The workshops and almost all of the prelims are during the days to free up the nights. And the contests themselves are social dance competitions, so no one is stressing to prepare for anything.

Competition is very important - it brings us together to cheer for each other, as well as to push each other to new heights. So we pride ourselves on creating a space for all Lindy Hoppers to compete - from newcomers who have never competed, all the way up to the top competitors in the world. That's why we have many levels of our contests.

We hope you can join us on our 4th year. We think it will be the best one yet!
