Jack and Jills

We have 4 levels of Jack and Jills: Newcomer, Intermediate, Advanced, and All-Star. That way everyone gets a chance to dance with / compete with like-level dancers!

Jack and Jills are extremely fun contests where you do not need a partner. You enter as an individual and are judged as an individual for prelims. You will be rotated and dance with multiple people to multiple songs. It's a great way to meet new people and have fun competing. If you make the finals, you will be paired up with one of the other finalists and be judged as a couple. If you have never competed before, our Newcomer division is for you!

Strictlys

Strictlys are social competitions where you do know your partner, but won't know what music will be played. Ask a friend to compete in Blues, Lindy, or Fast Lindy!

Strictly Lindy is for Newcomer, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. All-Star Strictly Lindy is for All-Star level. And Strictly Blues and Strictly Fast Lindy are all-levels competitions.

Solo Charleston

Don't wanna do the partnered thing all night? Wanna rock it out with some awesome Charleston? Well, this contest is for you! This is an all-levels competition.

Levels

Newcomer is for dancers who have never placed in a Jack and Jill competition.

Intermediate is for dancers who have competed in at least a few competitions - potentially even at national competitions. If you have placed in a newcomer or novice competition you must dance in this division.

Advanced is for dancers who compete at many national events - you know who you are.

All-Star is for dancers who have been in the finals or placed at ULHS, WLHC, Camp Jitterbug, NJC, ALHC, or other competitions determined by the organizers.

Tip: It is common to want to place yourself in as high a level as possible. Note that the level here refers to your competition experience, not the length of time you've been dancing - as competition experience is a different type of experience. If you have questions about where to place yourself, contact us and we can help!

Rules

1. To compete you must have a weekend pass.

2. You must be signed up by 8:30pm Friday night to compete in Friday night's competitions or by 2:30pm Saturday afternoon to compete in Saturday's competitions.

3. This is a social dance competition so the focus is on... surprise, the social dancing. We want to see you dance without a set plan, routine, etc. That doesn't mean you can't do an aerial or that cool move you and your partner know. But we don't want you to have it worked out before hand. If you can lead and follow it, you can do it. Those mini-routines can be cool... but that isn't the point of this competition. Leave the mini-routines at home!

It also doesn't mean we don't want you to perform. Merrying your performance with your social dancing is, in fact, one of the points to this competition.

4. HAVE FUN!
